What am I hearing?

SSB

Normal-sounding voice conversations, but single sideband can sound strange if the receiver is slightly off frequency. Fine-tune until voices sound natural.

CW

Morse code sent as short and long tones. Different stations may be very close together, so zooming the waterfall helps.

FT8

Short digital bursts synchronized to time. It may sound like repeating musical or electronic tones rather than a conversation.
