This path prepares operators to support a weather watch. It does not authorize independent forecasting, warning issuance, or emergency direction.
Your job at the workstation
- Maintain situational awareness using the approved tools.
- Compare information before reporting it.
- Use concise, factual language: what you see, where it is, when it was observed, and what source supports it.
- Pass National Weather Service information through the established ARES/SKYWARN chain, including the NWS Chat liaison when activated.
Stop and escalate
Life-safety decisions, official warning interpretation, and public instructions belong to the responsible authorities. Follow the fair, ARES, and net-control procedures already in effect.
